Project Description

IMPORTANT: To volunteer for tutoring, you must also sign up HERE!

The LHS chapter of the National Honor Society has partnered with the Learning Center in order to make academic help more readily available to students. To signup as an NHS member, start by filling out the form on this page. Then, proceed to where you can choose when you wish to volunteer, as well as what courses and level you feel you are proficient in enough to tutor. Ms. Solomon will then contact you over email if she has any openings based on the form you filled out. NHS members will be given NHS service hours for their time spent tutoring in the Learning Center.

There are two ways that students can receive tutoring: 1. Students can drop by the Learning Center during any block of the day to receive help from student tutors. During most blocks, two to three students and two teachers staff the Learning Center. Underclassmen may go straight to the Learning Center at the beginning of their study hall period and will be issued a pass to return at the end of the block. 2. Students who prefer help in a one-to-one setting may see Ms. Solomon (Room 148), the Learning Center coordinator, who will match them with a tutor. One-to-one tutoring relationships last longer and provide more in-depth help.

There are 87 NHS members participating in this project.
