Project Description

Major points: sign up on the NHS site if you are interested in volunteering for any block of time on any day of the festival. Once the list is filled up, you will be emailed a link where you can sign up for specific time slots to be volunteering. SIGN UP HERE:

See below for details on specific tasks.

Details: At the MICCA festival, students and families from all over Massachusetts will be coming to perform for judges, during the times: Friday April 4 (3pm-9:30 pm) Saturday April 5 (8am – 5:30pm) Sunday April 6 (12noon – 4:30 pm) Job descriptions: The NHS students may be doing one of several functions, complementing what the parent volunteers are doing, and working as part of the team with the parent volunteers (including me). Jobs may include: - Ushering at the auditorium doors, allowing people to enter only between performances - maintaining silence in the lobby of the auditorium during performances (to assist judges) - helping seat anyone who needs assistance, such as disabled or elderly attendees - helping at the snack bar - ANYTHING Mr. Leonard, Mr. Aramati, Mr. Held, Ms. Haass or Ms. Jayson might need, such as running messages between judges and band/orchestra groups, escorting parents from Auditorium to Commons II for their group’s judge remarks and workshop, delivering a snack from the snack bar to the judges. Sign up details: Because the festival runs for so many hours each day, it would be ideal to get student volunteer coverage spread throughout the day, which would be of most help to us and also would allow students to work the time in and around their own busy schedules. I’d like NHS volunteers to volunteer in blocks of 2 hours each shift, and each NHS student can sign up for as many as they want, but I will only want maximum 4 NHS volunteers per shift. Ideally, once I have a list of NHS volunteers who are interested, I will set up and distribute to them a link where they can sign up for timeslots. I can have that ready by mid-March, so if I can have a list of NHS students to distribute that to, or can post it onto the NHS webpage, that would be great. We are doing the same for the parent volunteers.
