Project Description

The Valued Instrument Orchestra Lesson Association (VIOLA) is a selective group of LHS students who have proven to be exceptional musicians in the school orchestra program. Applicants must be in either the Symphonic or the Chamber orchestra, and must play the violin/viola. This is a teaching organization for those who enjoy teaching, designed to advance the level of playing of orchestra members at the school who wish to hone their craft. Applicants are expected to behave responsibly, and must be able to teach at least two or more students at a time (this does not necessarily imply group lessons). Unfortunately, those who are accepted into the program must find their own students. Assuming that this project is approved, there will be a VIOLA group meeting after school in Commons II to discuss who is teaching whom, so as to avoid any confusion over students. No student can have more than one teacher, seeing as this would lead to a conflict with ideas and practices. Otherwise, members are to operate independently overall, scheduling lesson times as is convenient for them.

There are 3 NHS members participating in this project.
