Project Description

Please come help Power of Change set up at LHS on October 13 and/or October 14 right after school!

Power of Change is a teen empowerment project and multi-community service initative. Power of Change’s 50 ˘ Challenge is designed to engage statewide student participation while raising awareness of domestic hunger. From October 17 to November 14, Lexington High School students will be asked to donate 50˘ (or more) to fight hunger. Every dollar can provide 3 meals. All proceeds will be donated to regional food banks. Collection boxes will be located in students’ homerooms. Students should issue 50˘ challenges to friends via social. Homeroom with the most donations wins a donut party! Runner ups win water bottles. Also help LHS win the title of “Top Donor School” in the school-to-school challenges. Students interested in volunteering for Power of Change should contact Christi Lee at the (address redacted). Help is needed to distribute and collect collection boxes from homerooms and count donations and coordinate communications with other schools. Jobs: Tape posters around school. Hang banners around school. Generate publicity. Deliver collection boxes/jars to each homeroom (about 100 homerooms at LHS). After homeroom, pick up the collection boxes/jars and bring to the designated Dean’s office for safekeeping. Count money collected. Coordinate Power of Change with other participating schools. Deliver prizes. Website maintenance and facebook page support. Soliciting other schools to join Power of Change. Driving to deliver Power of Change materials (banners, boxes etc.) to other participating schools or to pick-up donations collected by participating schools.

There will be additional opportunities to help out after the initial set up at other schools as well!
